Great shot! How are you capturing so many images of deer? Are you using a hide?

Many thanks Matt ! I don't use a hide. It's a couple of skill sets coming together.

1-blending into the woods- a low noise signature in the woods is everything, also wearing
low contrast clothing like greys and blacks helps you blend in, avoid wearing white in the woods, camo is not needed

2-fast camera reaction time- lock camera's auto focus area to just the center segment,
this will allow for point and shoot and for the subject to be placed on center in the field, you can always place the subject off center and to 1/3 rule at home in post, just leave enough room to crop

3-luck or going out more times- the more times you go out the more you will place your self
in the "right place/right time"

4-study your subject- field guides etc, learn natures seasonal movements

5-having a good eye- train your eye for the slightest movement in the woods

Take care,
Dwayne Oakes

Aha, stalking in the woods for hours on end. Sounds fun!

Great results though - keep them coming
