Industrial landscape - North West UK

INEOS ChlorVinyls is one of the major chlor-alkali producers in Europe and it dominates the Runcorn landscape. At night it looks like a mini-manhatten and in the day it consists of lots of shape, steam, and verticle lines. I converted this to black and white, used dodging and burning to enhance the shot and added grain for effect.

Very cool. I like how some "ugly" factories can make such great photos!

Great work Karen.

Really liking the processing on this one. Feels very gritty, polluted and post-apocalypse. I like the overexpose in the center too, like the glare from the plant has chemically burnt its way onto the sensor, as it has onto the surrounding landscape. You almost get the sense that a mushroom cloud appears a few shots after this.

Thanks, Aaron, Donoreo. :-)

Me too! I love looking for beauty in the banal! I wanted the shot be a bit gritty and dark, Aaron, so thanks for spotting it. I wish there had been more vapors but I can always go back :-)
