Old Farm

Out and about around where I live. There's an old farm nearby. Took some shots, and tried them in B&W.

Used a gradient map to adjust to B&W. Would like to read any comments on how they could be improved, as I'm just getting back into my photography after a long break, and (always) looking to improve.

They are quite good shots but they need a boost in contrast. I will post a link later to a tutorial.

Thanks. I added a brightness/contrast adjustment layer, so maybe I just need to tweak the settings.

I've still got the PSD's so I can remove the gradient map. Is it just so you can compare?

Two great shots and well spotted. Contrast increase would improve it.

I think I prefer the colour versions because more detail is visible, to me anyway. I'm not a fan of HDR and think it gets overdone but for your colour shots HDR would really enhance the contrast, and bring out the textures and decay.

Thanks for the comments. I'll have a look for tutorials on adjusting contrast. I'm not always sure what to look for when making adjustments, and it's all still a learning process for me. I might have a go at HDR as well, but I'm not always a fan of it either.
