this is a huge problem for many that are underconfident or inexperienced. I use Elements 7 for its RAW capacity and then do most of my editing in PhotoPlus.

If you have the experience and know what you are looking for you can usually translate instructions for one format to use in your own.

I understand that any magazine cannot cope with trying to do tutorials in all the leading platforms.

That's why the forums are so good at helping people get over these problems.
