Lens upgrade advice required

Hi,

At the moment, I've got an 18-70 kit lens, and a 28-200 fairly cheap zoom. I'm looking at upgrading to a better everyday lens. With a budget of £200 (maybe £250).

Basically, I've always held off thinking I'll get a more expensive lens when can afford it, but after a recent trip to the alps, it's made me think again.

Park cameras have the tamron 18-200 lens for £170, which seems a very good deal. But after reading a couple of reviews it seems a little too compromised.

Basically, I'm looking fir suggestions on what to have a closer look at. It's a Sony dslr, so it looks like a sigma or tamron lens...

Any help/advice/pointers would be much appreciated.
