EZ Flash on 450D

Hello, I'm new to all this on here but have a question hopefully someone can help with.
I have been asked to take a few Portrait shots of my in laws but have no lighting set up to use.
I have a Canon 450D and various lenses and a 430 EX Speedlite.

I have also been offered a pair of 300EZ flashes with cable connects which I could use.
My question is, can i link all of them to work simultaneously and therefore at least have 3 flash units which will help my set up .
I have heard using older flashes can damage a DSLR is this the case? Should I stay away or can I try this set up out?

Many thanks!
