Adapters for wide angle lense/2x telephoto lense

Have just bought a Canon 5D Mk 2 package and the suppler has kindly added a wideangle lense and a 2x telephoto lense as a "gift" which is great but do i need to get adapter rings for theses as ive not used these before and am just used to the standard 70-200mm and 28-135 . They both have a 52mm thread. Any help would be appreciated. they are Bower lenses, not the best glass out there but as they were "free" i would like to use them!!!
Kind regards,
Clare.

P.

What size threads are the lenses? I suspect that they are larger than 52mm which would then suggest that you would need a stepping down ring. HOWEVER, if you step down like this you will have a horrendous vignette, almost like shooting through a tunnel. Unless you have a lens with a 52mm thread, I would think that these 'lenses' are pretty useless to you.

Hi Steve,
Thanx for the reply, the threads on the "free" lenses are 52 but on my actual lense they are, as you say larger at 62mm and 72mm, thanx for the advice on the stopping down ring , i have read articles about them and wondered how bad the vignette would be , obviously very bad !!!!!
Another excuse to go shopping for lenses?????
Thanx again for sharing your time and knowledge,
Regards,
Clare.

I agree with Steve, these are basically useless on your lenses.

If you want an idea of how bad the vignette would be, get some black cardboard, cut it to the size of the convertor lenses and sellotape it to the front if your proper lenses and have a look through the viewfinder.

I've never seen the point of these 'lenses' basically you are faking an effect that is achievable with some creative editing.

I saw an awful fisheye on amazon for £45.......
