help needed which lens

Hi to all. I have a canon 20d I would like to buy a zoom lens for my hols to Alaska.Prob do some whale spotting. I have a budget of around £700 i am at a total loss of which to go for as i spoilt for choice. thanks jase

Will you be taking a current lens with you? If so which one or do you want this lens to cover everything you might need?

Suggest you look at the Sigma 150-500mm F5-6.3 OS at around £850, but you need bright conditions to use it.

i have the 17-85mm is usm for basic use

canon 70 - 200mm F4 L ( non IS ) and a canon 1.4x teleconverter would give you plenty of scope and would be more or less in budget

great quality with reasonable reach for not a lot of money as far as lenses go
