Yeah, not many will be the next David La chappelle , making huge amounts of money! I've never made a penny from anything I do but there again I have never tried either. I have won a few competitions though, and had things like a bag, supermarket vouchers and a compact camera etc.. You could always try that? You can win holidays and at the moment the bing competition is free to enter with a prize of £10,000!

Lots to think about but I don't think I have one photo worth selling yet. But hopefully my experience and skill will grow and I might actually turn out the odd decent shot.

Wink

I'm positive out of your collection Chris you have one photo worth selling! everybody does, I had a artist do a Painitng of one of my pictures which now sells on her cards, I'm credited on the cards as being the photographer.
Karen is right the local press don't pay for pictures just a ''credit'' be it to pay for adverts or in print E.G. your name is put down as the photohraphe, most local paers use Pro Photographers for theyre main work and rely on us the public for the rest.
I do it to get my name out there its hard work but sometimes worth it if you get the spin off someone wants a print!
Don't despair continue to love the hobby, everything takes time!

Ieuan

Thanks Ieuan, it really is a hobby, but I'm looking at moving to sunnier climates in the next few years (early retirement) and would like to run photography holidays. Think if I had 'credits' or 'sales' to my name it would make me seem a lot more professional

have you looked at the site photo4me (my page is here )

You upload the photos you want and they sell them. You can set your price and it's free to upload. I've only been on it a short while but it seems ok.

Thanks Jimmy, not heard of it but will look. Did you get to the Medieval Fair? Etsha and I went and had a great day. Loved the Falconry.

Have a look at www.fotolibra.com, you pay £18 a quarter to be a member and they go 50/50 with any sales.

At the rate that I sell pics I'll be £72 a year out of pocket.
