If trampolining is your main reason for getting the lens, then IS/OS won't be any help as you won't be able to use slow shutters anyway. I've the 70-200 f/2.8 non-IS (on a 7D) and use it in preference to the IS version that OH uses - but I rarely use either for wildlife

Portrait-wise, you could do worse than the standard 50mm f/1.8 - personally, I use my Sigma 105mm but that's as I like to stand back from my subject (and for my very rare studio stuff, my 15-85mm IS)

thanks you I suppose the one thing I never gave a thought to was shutter speed. So are you saying that the IS/OS are only really needed for slower shutter speeds.

Thankyou for your reply

Well, that's the purpose of IS/OS/VR - to provide a stable platform taking pics at slower shutter speeds (typically by reducing camera shake)

Yes, but it's also useful for moving wildlife shots like panning.

I always switch it off for panning - yes, I know there's mode 2 but I find no advantage in a pan (but most of my shots are dogs, horses, cars, etc which are moving relatively faster)

Just had a look on the panamoz website. think this may be a version with limited languages but it is selling at £914. think that might be where i get mine from, best price i've seen anywhere for this.
