If yoiu sare thinking of getting one do it quick, when I bought mine a couple of weeks ago Park Cameras only had 14 left and were unable to get confirmation from Nikon as to when their order would : be filled, next day it was announced as discontinued

Once supplies run out that is it and from what I have read on various forums no one has a huge stockpile !!!

Thanks everyone for there input, after a lot of soul searching I decided to go with a D700 instead, I have been toying with getting a full frame for some time and even considered dare I say it going to the dark side but thought better.

I bought one yesterday from Curry's of all places for £1749,00 versus Warehouse Express @ £1728.00 had a chance to play around with one for a while in store before buying which was a bonus and no waiting for the postman.

I have a couple of DX lenses which will have to be sold and replaced - 10 -20 Sigma and 17 -70 Sigma my other lenses are DG so work fine, will miss the 10 -20 though need to save a little and buy some pro glass to complement it now.

Anyway reading through the handbook and generally playing around at the moment more than pleased like a kid with a new toy.

Cheers

Steve...

Have you tried the DX lenses in FX mode? I've got the Nikon 12-24 DX which works quite nicely in FX mode from 18mm upwards.

Hi Paul

Not as yet, I have tried my old film lenses, Nikkor 28mm - f2.8 (forgot how sharp this lens is), Nikkor 35mm F2.8 and Tamron - 135mm f2.5 they work great although manual focus, if only I had kept the Nikkor 70 -210 and not sold it on eBay.

I was presently surprised to find that you can set none cpu lens data e.g. focal length and maximum f and set them as lens 1 , 2 etc, when using the info is saved with the image, takes me back I may even run a roll of film in my FM2 just for old times sake.

I will try the DX lenses and may even keep them for my D200.

Cheers

I love my D300. Great camera.
I bought a D2x as a backup body and the pictures are nowhere near as good out of it!

I paid just over £900 for mine before the price rises.
