Well Karen, I'm off to Format tomorrow - very excited!

Is there anything you'd particularly recommend? Obviously I can check the website etc but having someone who has actually been would be good!

Mind you, I am meeting up with a friend from the area so hopefully he'll be able to show me around a bit too

Amy

Well, I would start off at Quad as that has the most work on display - remember to go upstairs through all the levels as its not just downstairs that has work. The good thing is you can get a coffee there and a password for free wifi , which is handy. Get a route map othewise you will walk past other locations, the map is free. They are all within walknig distance anyway. Go to the museum, upstairs has great work on display including the shots Bruce Gilden made of Derby people. The flickr group exhibition on street photography was great and is in an empty shop. They had some work on vintage cams and iphones, sort of a collection of slide shows which was interesting. One little blue tv with a smart card reader appealed to me , I have tried to find out where to buy one but have found nothing on the net. I like the idea of utilising video installatiions with photography which is one of the main reasons I am doing media production next year.

I am not sure what else to suggest really, the parking was closeby , a multi-story car park near Quad. I never got to see the University of Derby exhbition which was a shame because one of my tutors studied there years ago when John Blakemore tutored there and always raved about it. I might go back, I also never saw some of the work on show in Nottingham.

Look for a building that has graffiti and artwork all over the side, I meant to photograph it but never had time. Also some interesting characters about , especially a guy with a board advertising a chippy! :-)

Have a good time, I am sure you will really like it :-)

Karen

Great, thanks Karen - I've found a little pdf guide where I've marked off all the stuff I really want to see, although most of it is next door to each other so it should be pretty easy.

Hoping to get there for about 10.30 (I'm from about an hour away - going across on the train) and have to be finished by about 2 because of the company I'm in wanting to watch the football.... but then again I could always leave them to it and carry on exploring

Had a fantastic time Karen,

Everyone else, you have until Sunday to see it, I highly recommend it if you can get to Derby to see it, and obviously if you're into street photography.

You will need a whole day to see it if you want to see everything, I was there for a good 6 or 7 hours and there are still parts I missed so leave plenty of time

Looking forward to the next one!

Amy

Hi Oldboy,

Have you visited it? If I recall correctly you live not too far from my hometown?

No I haven't, but then again I don't visit those type of things.
