Canon or Sigma

Hi, I`m new to the forum and would value any opinions. I`m looking to buy a super-wide zoom and can`t decide between the Canon 10-22 and the Sigma 10-20. I have a Canon 500d.

Hi STEBIG and welcome to the forums.

Rest assured they're are both great lenses, but the Sigma 10-20mm f/4.5 - 5.6 is almost half the price of the Canon and so offers better value for money.

+1 - both produce equally good images but Sigma's somewhat less expensive

In recent tests by both magazines on this site, the Canon won in quality, but only slightly. The Sigma is an overall better value. I have not heard of anyone with the lens not liking it.

I went for the canon 10 22 and paid the extra, was it worth it? who knows because I dont have the sigma to compare, but I didnt want the cheaper one then regret not forking out the extra.

+1 for the Sigma. There are loads of threads on this forum about this exact question so I'd check them out for more information.

Mark - do you mean you do regret it or did you mean to say don't?!

Sorry my grammar leaves alot to be desired.
What I meant to say was I didnt want to regret not spending the extra it does read like I regretted it. Sorry

Thanks for the advice. I must admit I try and buy the best I can afford and most reviews reviews tend to reccomend the Canon but point to the Sigma as being a lot cheaper, so I think in my own mind I would go for the Canon.
