POTY 2011 now running!

So far, one photograph. A very good one from one of the regular forum members. Good luck Karen!

Haven't decided yet whether or not I'll enter.

Had a bit of a struggle to get from the POTY site back into the PhotoRadar site.

Thanks :-)

I think you should enter, you did really well with all your comments and positoning last year. It will make the summer more interesting and give you incentive to get out with your camera. Don't think I am struck on the flower and garden category though. I am so not a flowery kind of person lol. Unless they are willing to accept alternative flowers like those on buildnig sites or abandoned locations :-)

Looks like you're going to win this year Karen. Doesn't look like anyone else is going to enter

Best of luck Karen,

Unfortunately in my opinion. Lotteries undermine the industry.!; Just as similar poetry short stories comps undermine the book industry.

The pictures we will end up seeing the most, will be those from togs that have 'paid for the priviledge' (and a pro tog will not get very fat paying the viewer );

Sad to see the whole thing going topsy turvey, as in the long term it will effect both magazine and hardware camera sales. Looking at the future on this basis, those starting up at the foot of the ladder, even after paying for their education, will need to take out a big loan before their first sale!.

Seems like a shooting ones own leg senario; as the rich poor gap widens, with less buying magazines, smartphones, pads and cameras, there will be plenty more sadness for the priviledged street tog to snap.........but fewer willing to pick up and buy the broadsheets to see more depressing pictures.

As you have guessed I will not be entering this year.

Yeah, I did quite well with comments and positioning, but weren't they mainly encouragement?
I have never come anywhere near a short list, or a POTD, so there is still a lot to learn.

I always thoroughly enjoyed the competition and 'met' a lot of nice people over the years. It was fun and enjoyable and I liked looking at people's entries, to learn and to get inspiration.

I can still get ideas by looking at the entries, but the fun bit has been tarnished. When I pay to enter, whatever it is, I expect to get a good return for my money, be it a ride on a steam caroussel, a play or a movie. To pay for 'fun,' that you know will lead nowhere, is something I will have to come to terms with first.
I might, but not yet.
