wide angle lens ?

Hi everyone
I've been thinking about getting a wide angle lens, but not sure which one to get.
I have got a nikon d5000 camera. I've been looking at the nikon 10-24mm, abit pricey i know but iim thinking quaility and hopefully it will last me many years, lol.
I want to take photos of landscapes and buildings.I would really appriciate it if you can advise me on which wide angle lenses there are worth a looking at.
THANKS for your time.

Sigma 10-20 is usually highly recomended. I have one but to be honest it never got much use as I changed cameras to full-frame shortly after I bought it.
Was pleased with the results I did get with it though.

Have a look through the lenses thread. This has been debated several times lately.

As the others have said, it's been the subject of a big discussion recently.

The thread referred to above is this one

If it helps I had the same problem recently, you can find the discussion on this forum. I eventually went for the Sigma 10 - 20mm instead of the Nikon 10 - 24mm. Have been out playing with it and have absolutely no complaints about it. I then used the £230 I saved to put towards a fancy flash system !.

My problem now is what filters to buy it, does the cost of photography never end !!!!!

P.S. I am also trying convince my wife that I NEED a Nikon 200 - 400mm lens but at 5 grand I may be waiting a while
