upgrade or new lens

At present I have a 350d with a 17-85mm and 50mm lens.

Having read the reviews are and how good the new 60d is, and the fact that I want to take my photography more seriously would anybody think it is a good idea to upgrade my camera or to look at buying a new lens for the 350d.

Any help or comments would be appreciated.

There would be quite a difference between your 350 and the 60D. Keep the 50, BTW, it will still be great on the 60D.

I agree. 350D is getting long in the tooth (probably, what, 3 - 4 generations old?) and could also be prone to sudden electronic failure (I still have my 300D - relegated to use at job sites - and it has occasional electronic "hiccups" - so could die anytime now) .

So a 60D will have a lot better sensor and a lot of other great things compared to the 350, plus more robust build, and more serious features and functions that you should be able to take advantage of if your craft is really progressed to the point where the 350 seems limiting.

Instead of a 60 d why not try and find a 50 d .It's miles ahead of the 350 built like a tank and will not dissapoint .Should cost less than a 60d .

There's no way I would upgrade my 50 d at the moment .Quality is great .

i had exactly this dilemma and looked at the 60d and 7d i was really torn but i took the 60d as it meant i could afford a new lens as well.

i have not been disappointed at all. whilst i do still think that maybe i should have gone for a 7d i am mor than happy with the 60d..
