Not knowing how much server space they have (left) I don't know how long it'd take to fill. But you're spot on about the size of some of the images, which I think in part contributes to my point about space becoming an issue. Especially if there becomes duplication (if that can be avoided then it's a moot point anyway though).
So the discussion has boiled down to one of space?
Space on the cloud is relatively cheap so shouldn't really be an issue, and limitations on file sizes can be put in place and enforced to protect space anyway. Bandwidth is usually the expensive cost and that's being paid for already anyway - whichever method is used. However, if the cost of space is an issue then this can be catered for by having a fixed GB limit on members galleries with additional charge for extra GB if required. This would also have the advantage of pushing the onus of managing their photo's onto a member and not using the site as a dumping ground or PR exercise.

So the question to Marcus now becomes:- "Why don't you turn attachments on for registered members?", "What is the reasoning behind limiting this functionality?"

What goes around comes around.
Was there a reason given for not enabling the attachments?

No, they didn't reply to my posts.

This was at beta stage, just before it went fully live. As you can imagine some were having trouble finding their way around, so we posted a few screengrabs in the gallery to show people how to do things. We then got told off for using the gallery for this, and were asked to host them elsewhere or email them. That didn't go down to well tbh as we were beta testing the site for them. lol They could have been deleted before going live.

I then asked for the attachments to be enabled.

While your here. Can you please turn on the url bbcode, at least for us mere moderators, so we can point people in the right direction. attachments would also be handy for this too..for screengrabs
And when another member asked the same in a different thread,

attachments are not enabled on here. I did ask them to turn them on, but
