Nikon D7000 fault

Hi Guys,
I am hoping that someone can offer some explaination for the following. I bought a Nikon D7000 in November and it has suddenly started displaying 3 small doughnut shaped marks on my images. I have not removed my Nikon 16-85 lens from the body so I would not have thought that sensor dust was the problem. To eliminate that the problem is on the lens I have now swapped the lens with my telephoto and the problem is still there! I have just sent an email to the company that I purchased from and I am waiting for an answer.

Best wishes

Welcome to the forum.

'Doughnut shaped' sounds like drops of liquid on the sensor. These could have come from the shutter or mirror mechanisms, and if that's the case Nikon should fix it under warranty.

I don't know if this means that the Nikon is afflicted with the same issues that affected a percentage of early Pentax K5s (mine included), given that the share a similar Sony sensor.

There has been a lot of chat about it on the Pentax forums - such as HERE

Pentax have replaced all of the defective bodies, although they could have been more informative on their website.

The stains were only apparent at small apertures, f11 or above, and when photographing a plain background. So set your lens to f16, manually set the focus at infinity and shoot a picture of a clear sky or plain piece of paper.

I hope you get your problem sorted soon.
