A few new lens' please?

Do you have any recommendations for a wide-angle lens, a wide-aperture "isolation" lens and perhaps another I'm also thinking of getting a lens with a lot more zoom. I know a lot of street photographers are of the mind set that taking a photo of a subject from too far away makes the photo seem distant but I think it would be useful sometimes, especially when I'm trying to catch something I see quickly and without anyone noticing me. I'm looking to diversify if you know what I mean. Right now I have a D80 Nikon Body and I'm using the stock lens for the D90. Its 18-105mm and f/3.8-f/22 VR. My price range is the issue here, I'm not sure how much I can afford to spend right now on lenses but I'm very interested in at least putting together a "to buy" list. Give me some options if you can because to be honest I'm not even sure how much these things could cost. If I have names I can start looking for them on ebay and craigslist.

THANKS SO MUCH!

For a wide angle lens, the Sigma 10-20 f4-5.6 is great value. I wouldn' bother with eBay for this one though as when I bought mine used ones were going for almost as much as I paid brand new.

What do you mean by wide aperture isolation lens? Is it a macro lens for close up work?

The Tokina 11-16mm f/2.8 is another superb super-wide angle lens that you might want to consider. They usually go for about £100 more than the Sigma does, so whatever your budget can afford.

I'm guessing an "isolation lens" is for portrait work to seperate your subject from the background. A lot of options available to you. The 50mm f/1.8D is my lens of choice for close portraits. The 85mm f/1.8D is another excellent lens for portraits. There are f/1.4 lenses available but are approximately 3 times more expensive (at least 2nd hand copies on eBay). The 70-200mm F/2.8 VR or (VR II) is another awesome lens for portraits. You could kill two birds with one stone and just use the 70-200 f/2.8 VR for portraits and as your main zoom lens.

Second hand copies of these lenses routinely go on ebay for the following :

Nikkor 50mm f/1.8D £70
Nikkor 85mm f/1.8D £200
Nikkor 70-200 f/2.8 VR £1000 (VR II about £1350-1400)
