Second hand Canon or new-out dated Canon?

I'm looking to invest into a new camera and am torn between the Canon 1000d or the Canon 450D. The 1000d is new and is £370, but I'm worried that this model will become out dated, it also comes with a 1 year warranty. However I can get the 450D for £300 which is second hand and only comes with a 3 month warranty, worried if there is something dodgy about the 450D, please say if the 3 month warranty probably wont be enough. Both camera prices are included with the same lens.
Thank you,

Unfortunately, they are both already 'outdated' - that is the nature of camera technology! It also depends on what you want to do with the camera, and whether you want to sell it at a later stage when you upgrade again. If possible, handle both and see which one fits you and your requirements best. Having said that, an out-of-the-box new camera is probably a better choice.

The 450D offers 12.2MP which is luring me to its side and i want to use a DSLR for birds, night shorts and well for the landscape. Really afraid that the 1000D only has 10MP, which I guess Christmas this year wont even exist.

Why limit yourself to these two choices?

The Nikon D3100 is brand new, comes in around your budget and has some cracking reviews.
