Just relax, start with the basics and get a firm handle on those before you move on to the next step. We all have to start somewhere, but if there's anything you're not sure of then just post the question on here and one of us will either give you the answer or point you in the direction of a good article you can read that will explain everything.

You can start by looking at this website as it is full of useful guides to help you master every conceivable technique you might need. Most of all though, enjoy it!
Thanlks Ian, I will have a good read here and start to get to grips with things..Any questions I have I will ask..

Thank you Mark..The Twiggy Shoot sounds fun..the 60's images of her are iconic..its all about the eyes, get them right and you are halfway there..I look forward to seeing the images.

Thank you Drew..hopefully I'll thrive but I am so used to working with outstanding photographers that I fear anything I produce will frustrate me immensely..

Welcome Bal, no doubt from experience in your field you know that practise makes perfect. It is the same in photography - it's a good idea to read the manual and forum posts and learn practically from someone etc, but at the end of the day, what is going to make you a better photographer is practise, practise, practise. It is a very enjoyable and rewarding learning curve though, and one where the learning never stops!

Regards,
Denise

No doubt that's how they also all felt when starting out Bal. With dedication and determination there is no reason why you should not also achieve what they have. You are already off to a good start with your studio experience and I would imagine your make-up skills also give you a good basic knowledge of studio lighting. Go for it and enjoy!

Hello Denise,

Thanks for the welcome and stopping by..Yes practice is what will be needed and as mentioned earlier I have a colleague who is a professional fashion and beauty photographer who is going to do two things..1: teach me to use the camera so I don't take pictures of my shoes and 2: set up my studio for me (in other words take me shopping for studio lights, infra red sensor things, and another lens..I was hoping for a digital operator for chirstmas but no such luck so it looks like I'm on my own

Once again thanks for the welcome..friendly lot here, very refreshing.

Bal

New is Good!

I usually get my best photo ideas from looking at other professional photographer's work. Perhaps looking at my photos can help you?? My name is Griffith Jones and I'm 23 years old and I've been backpacking Europe for the past 6 months. The photographs here are my effort to become more organic in my photography.
ENJOY!
