My entries have never got anywhere in the past two competitions, but I am mastering some useful techniques and have managed to gather more votes than ever before. But is this due to the quality of my work?

I leave it to you to judge!

My first few entries I had my image size on the longest side at 1400 pixels, I started entering new images today and noticed that the size is now 2000 pixels. How does this affect my previous entries which have already received votes? Will they be disqualified and if so how can I reupload those older entries with the correct size so that I do not lose any votes or comments?

Another question, would it not be possible for DCMag to watermark all images shown at the full size? As it stands now anyone can just copy the full size image from the site.

There's nothing in the rules to say you need them at 2,000 pixels on the long end. Mine are mostly around 1,800, any longer and I'd have to reduce the quality to keep them under the 2MB file size limit. However I have just noticed that the old rights grabbing terms are still in place for the competiton

I think that only you can see your larger versions (and the judges etc). For example when I logged out of my gallery I couldn't view the larger sizes of my own images, and I couldn't see Reinardina's (above) while either logged in or out.

Thanks very much for the reply ap4a, I never thought to check by logging out. As for the image size as long as I stick under 2MB and keep within 1400-200 pixels on the longest edge I should be ok then I guess.

Appreciate you putting my mind at ease

Kind Regards
Mitch

Trawling for old entires should be easier.

There are possibly still some technical hiccups with the site, as I can get to both EdwinM's (normal sized) pictures and my own, by clicking the links. I did not realise other people cannot see the larger versions; that used to be different in previous competitions.

And another possible technical hiccup: I just wrote a rather long post, only to be told that I wasn't logged in and couldn't upload it. Sign in through the main site. Bit of a bore, as I was still logged in. I lost my message and sadly did not save it somewhere, so I'll start again.

In my previous post, I did not make myself very clear, so I'll give it another go.

As an amateur and a relative novice, I managed to get three of my 'Digital Vision' pictures rather 'high up' in the 'Reader's Choice' section. I'm thrilled to bits of course that my digital experimenting is appreciated by fellow contestants, but ... there must be hundreds of pictures on the site that have just disappeared in the morass of entries, not to be seen by anyone ever again, apart from (hopefully) the judges and jury.

I have tried to locate pictures I have voted for or commented on in the past, but can't find them because I haven't got the time to trawl through thousands of photos. It is easy to find the oldest and the latest entries, but the vast majority stays hidden.

Wouldn't it be possible to sort them in 'Months of Entry' or something similar, so you can catch up on things you missed because you were on holiday or simply too busy to have a look?

It must be possible surely?

I'm now going to see if I can post this!

I second a good sorting system.

Hi, I've been emailed about uploading a hi res photo of a shot for the shortlisting for POTY, but when I try, I get a runtime error on the server. Is anyone else getting this?

As a temporary solution, I emailed a hi res version of the picture as an attachment to the email asking for my bio and confirmation of my name and address.

Do you think this will be sufficient?

Congratulations JP, I'm still praying - I have no idea on your questions but hopefully someone does.

Good luck

Andy
