Menin Gate archway

This is part of the Menin Gate (Memorial to the Missing) situated in Ypres (Ipres), Belgium.
It is a WW1 memorial to the British, Canadian and Indians who have no known grave and disappeared in the fighting in the Ypres Salient between 4th August 1914 to a date in 1917 that has escaped my memory.

I like the light coming through arch stairway as it adds a little mood and the suggestion there is light in death.

Oly Paul - Thanks. I've travelled a lot of the WW1 Western Front battlefields and I always find myself coming back to Ypres. It is a wonderul town, even if you're not interested in the war, and the Menin Gate is a superb structure; I even proposed to my wife at the top a few years ago!
