New 7D which Lens to buy with it

I am buying a Canon7D body (upgrade from 350D) my main interest is dogs, still in portrait with their owners and in action agility, play and animals countryside pursuits out and about. So a faster lense would be more ideal.
I dont know what lens to buy to start with ie a Canon lense ??? not sure if they do one like the Sigma 18-250 or Tamron 18-270 or what else is on the market ie in the Canon range for when I am walking out and about. So the least I have to carry the better so dont understand technical terms yet... so class me as a beginner.
Will my lense 70 to 200 Canon fit my 7D?

If that lens is the 70-200mm F2.8 then you don't need any other for what you want. If it isn't then a Canon 70-200mm F2.8 IS would be ideal. If that's to much then the Sigma version with OS would fit the bill.
