printing

hi there, im recently new to digital photography only 1 year but im starting to get the hang of it all, however my problem is in the printing of my photos, when im finished in photoshop and stating to print, all of the photos are only partialy printed ie its only printing out about one eighth of the picture or smaller, im sure that its something to do with the image sizeing in photoshop but im not at all sure what im doing wrong what sizes i should be puting in (im printing a4 size pictures), any help in sorting this problem would be greatly appreciated. many thanks john.

Sounds like a memory problem, as the image infomation sent to the printer is truncated. Need to know how much memory you have on your computer and what type of printer you have. My first PC only had 4mb of memory and my laser printer had 256k, this wasn't a problem until I trired to print a hundred page document but it would only print the first thirty or so. The way round it is to reduce the size of the file, which I did by only sending thirty pages at a time.

The way round your problem could be solved by reducing the size of the file sent to your printer, so you should have this ability in Photoshop. Select Image, image size and adjust as required. In the printing menu select scale to fit media and check what the PPI is. It only needs to be between 200 to 300 to get a decent print.
