Photography Tutor / Weekend Recommends?

Hi Everyone

I am new to this forum, and pretty new to photography as have only been snapping for a couple of years and only got myself a decent camera in April, problem is, I can't use it!!

When I uploaded my photos to the comp (just for fun, not a Bobs of getting anywhere) I noticed I seem to have my new camers (which doesn't have any 'auto' settings ans is therefore a 'real' one ) on crazy settings that are just plain rediculous given the magazines and subjects I have read on the subject. I have no idea how to get my camera to do what I want it to do, and in fact have limited understanding of where my f-stop fits in my ISO when rubbing up against my shutter speed.

So, having spent all that money, and being I am considering a new lens, I think I need to learn how to use the camera soon as!

If anyone can recommend a course over a weekend or similar type thing, I would be grateful. I cannot travel to far as am limited mobility wise, the Midlands or East would be ideal.

Thanks in advance

Nikki

Hi Nikki,

There are a number of professional photographers who run courses during their free time and you'll find many of them have websites that you can book through. Just type in digital photography courses into any search engine and you'll get pages of them.

Now you mention that you're in the East Midlands region, the same as I am and I found there's one who runs a course at a number of sites throughout the this area, from Hardwick Hall in Derbyshire, Burghley House near Stamford and Clumber Park in Nottinghamshire. There's also a chap, called Glen Tillyard, near Market Harborough in Leicestershire who regularly runs courses at the weekend throughout the year. In just one day he'll show you what settings you're best using to take both landscapes and portraits depending on the light levels and explain very simply and clearly the relations between each. As you may have guessed I've attend one of his courses myself and I can personally recommend him if really want some help grasping the basic skills and techniques of photography. Follow this link to his websitehttp://http://www.digitalphotographycourses.co.uk/ and enjoy!

Hi Nikki,

if you can get to North Hertfordshire, I'll be happy to show you how to use your camera for free.

I've done photography tuition through my company (pSquared Photography) but it's a little too far for us to travel as we normally cover Sussex, Hampshire and Surrey.

I would suggest contacting any local photographers and seeing if they'd be happy to do it. Many would do it simply for the love of photography. We started doing it because we had friends that wanted help. It was a case of "teach me what this button does and I'll buy you dinner". I reckon lots of good amatuer photographers would do that....

It's always rather annoying when you take the time to reply to a question and don't get any feedback from the original poster. However, Jehera hasn't been here for over a year, and only made 4 posts in two consecutive days when he was around, so I suggest you may be wasting your time in trying to help.
