new lens required

Good afternoon
I have started taking pictures of my daughter and her club members in trampolining. I have a canon 1000d and the lenses that I have are a Canon 50mm prime f2.8, Sigma 28-70mm f2.8,and a Sigma 70-300mm f4.5. The prime lens and the 28-70mm works really well when I am close to the trampolines in the training sessions but when we go to championships I am about 25 to 30 meters away. We are not allowed to use flash because of the distraction element so I am looking to buy a better zoom lens say f2.8 70-200mm or should I consider a better camera. Most of the time I use a mono pod so that helps but I would like to stop the aaction a little better than I am at the moment,

Thanks for looking any advise would be gratful.

Nigel.

I don't see any reason to upgrade your camera. Have you considered a longer monofocal lens, say a 105mm, 150mm or 180mm f/2.8 or f/2. That would be a lot cheaper than a 70-200mm f/2.8 and still give you the reach and the extra few stops of light over your 70-300?

An f/2.8 70 - 200 zoom is going to cost you. I have the Canon f/4 L IS USM 70 - 200 and I absolutely love it - its just so sharp. Have you considered one of these? Cheaper than the 2.8 version and almost as sharp (although I cannot confirm this).

Hi the canon 70-200 f4 is as sharp as the 2.8 it is a great lens, i had the non is version, then i got a sigma 70-200 f2.8 and it was way better for me.. If you dont mind buyng used you can get some real bargains with lens, i found the older non macro version is sharper than the newer versions, Most primes are super sharp but you are limited to the fixed range and need to use your feet to get closer or further away.. If you get a new body you will still want nore reach..

good luck in your choise..
