One of the most amazing displays of prowess on a guitar I have ever seen is Tommy Emmanuel performing "Classical Gas"

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zBEbYXa6Cik

Another is Andy McKee

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ki3CLHJrPSc

Both well worth a watch! Make sure you check out Andy McKee on the harp guitar here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cvar4...eature=related

Simply incredible talent.

Andy McKee is very good... but...

My favourite YouTube guitar video is of John Butler from the John Butler trio playing a song called "Ocean". His skill is phenomenal. I mean, really amazing. It's beautiful. LINK

Steel Panther - the Glam Rock Macc Lads.

My list, as a bass player, then inevitably
Geddy Lee
Billy Sheehan
John Myung
Chris Squire

6 stringers
John Petrucci
Dave Gilmour (Comfortably Numb, best solo ever?)
Tom Morello
Nick Barrett (the best vid has been pulled from YouTube for copyright infringement - don't some people understand the power of marketing?)
and how about Matt Rach

There are just so many who are so good.

I just love music - so obviously not jazz

Our drummer used to say that jazz was the noise band makes while falling down a staircase

Ah, but how could he know any better? Everyone knows that a band comprises several musicians and a drummer

He is probably in need of a few bob, poor chap. Mind you, I do like the guy's music and always have, but I would rather listen to Mark Knopfler as a singer and guitarist. Now he really is in Dire Straits.

John Butler – phenomenal indeed by the way, Chris.

Well, it was a long(ish) time ago. Early 80s to be precisish. But at least I'm in the Rough Guide To Rock (for, by the way, easily the worst band I was ever in, albeit that they are still going).

Never achieved any great success, toured the UK a bit, played the Marquee, appeared in an obscure Marshall advert, made a couple of singles and CD albums, then spent 15 years having fun in a pub covers band. Haven't played much at all since I moved to France, although my ears are still ringing

I don't miss too much. As long as I avoid live music events . .

I've done the fast bit of my life, now I'm doing the winding down bit. I have a 180mph car, but I rarely break a speed limit. I think it's called maturity
