I think they are a bit of a gimmic, but could be useful for coastal shots where horizons always go downhill no matter how hard I level them up. I do try hard though...lol

Apologies for being the cheapskate, but I tend to use the autofocus point indexes in the viewfinder to give an indication...

I don't like the idea of it firing automatically when it's level. however in the Exif data might be useful but I think it's probably going over the top a bit when it's so easy to correct in your software of choice.
