B&W printer advice please

My seven year old HP A3 printer has finally given up the ghost and needs replacing. I particularly want a printer that produces consistently good black & white prints without unwanted colour casts. An Epson R2880 would be my choice but, because I am just about to upgrade my DSLR, I cannot stretch to the R2880's current £450 price. My budget is probably no more than £300 at present and I appreciate that it probably rules out A3 printers.

Can any forum members recommend a current printer within my budget that they have found to produce very good B&W results as well as colour? Many thanks.

B&w prints

Hi Mr Bump,??? I have the canon pro9000 mk2 and have had good results from it. Have heard canon have a promotion on with £100 cash back with this printer which would make it £250, well worth a look.
