Private Messages on this forum.

I've sent 3 Private messages out recently to members who are regularly on here but not received a response at all from any of them. Having used a lot of forums over the years I find the PM section on this one the worst of all You don't really know you have any message unless you actively look for them. Now I can't imagine you're all scrambling to get into your inbox with the pure excitement there could be a PM from me *awaits barrage of abuse from non messaged members*

So I thought I'd just ask... Does everyone know how to get to their private messages ? - Click the settings tab, then go from there, you'll be surprised how full your inboxes are I guess ) or do people prefer to be contacted via email / did they not realise there was a difference ?

Sorry I'm not having a pop at anyone that I have messaged and throwing my toys out the pram because I haven't been replied to, it's more of a general thing about this forum and me wondering how apparent it is if you've got a message seeing as none of the 3 have replied ?

I hope this highlights a point, the rest of the site is wonderful and the forum is good in the respect of so many people post ( it's hard to keep up with sometimes ), lots of new photo's, lots of good advice, site links to the mag well. PM section needs addressing though !

I have replied to your PM Ian
I have email notification switched on in my settings, so get a notification email when people PM.

I have to say it would be nice to have a inbox new message indicator in the Welcome box (just below the search section top right). That said I rarely PM and tend to email.

Also for speed I often leave myself logged in on the site, so a green circle may show in the threads and I can be miles away from the keyboard.

Just found out I had one private message and two 'Friend' requests, which I had not seen before. Both happliy accepted, by the way.
Will have to spend a bit more time to struggle through the possibilties of the site.
It sure is not all that clear!

I've sent Digidiva a couple of Pm's and an e-mail through the forum and not had a reply, there ought to be be a notification in your welcome box top left that would be the easiest.

The old DCM site, which we all loved, showed if you had any messages when you logged on. This site by contrast wasn't designed for the users, was full of bugs when first launched, but we were told that they would all be fixed. Some hope!

Ironically the people I actually PM'd still haven't mailed me back, so cheers Andy but the one I was on about wasn't you... Another useful function would be the ability to see if your sent message has been read ?

Please can our little forum wizards magic some sort of inbox notification to display if we have unread messages ??? Ta

I don't always know when I get private messages and even when I do know it takes me a while to find where they are.
