colour problem please help

hello people,
I'm Allan, I have recently bought myself a starter dlsr, its a nikon d60 with prepacked 18-55 mm lens. For a month it has been working fine had no problems but it has started showing green and purple blurs of colour on the screen when i review photos i have taken. the photos i had taken before i noticed the problem are still fine. This probably isn't the place to be posting this but i thought i'd ask anyway. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Allan

All I can suggest is that you take the camera back to the shop/manufacturer for diagnosis and repair. I've never seen a problem quite like this. At a guess I'd say it could be some kind of damage to the sensor, maybe to the microlenses. I assume the blotches are always in the same place?

You could try a reset of the camera either via menu or might have a hole underneath the camera to use with a small pin or such. Then take a couple of pictures and if it's still iffy return to retailer.

All I can think is that it's a fingerprint or similar on the sensor (really the low pass filter). Not that I've ever seen one, but in trying to imagine what it might be, that's all I've come up with.

I had a look at the full size image, its not a finger print, its more like electronic noise. Just take it back.

hi, well i took it back to the shop (Argos). Apparently they dont accept returns on cameras but they have taken the camera and have said they will repair it. I dont know how i feel about them carrying out the repair. I'd feel better if i had taken it to a specialist or even jessops, but then i would have had to pay for repair no doubt. Will update when i hear from argos

Under the sale of goods act you can demand a full refund if a camera developes a fault within six months. No if's or buts. You can refuse to accept a repair and demand a replacement or full refund. The information the assistant gave you is incorrect as they have no choice in the matter. If in doubt or need extra support then contact your local CAB office or Trading Standards.

As OB has said - don't accept "no refunds" as an answer - they're breaking the law if they try it.

If they really kick up a fuss you can also contact Nikon as the camera should be under warranty and they should repair it.

Oh, and Argos won't be repairing it - they'll be sending it off to someone else!
