Issue 24 was dedicated to the free software you get with your Canon camera, so had lots of tutorials on DPP, Zoom Browser, EOS Utility and so on.

I am sorry but most of the mag is for the pro's I think all the staff have it in mind that we are all
loaded with cash. there is more people in the lower end of earnings that buy this mag than they cater
for.

Hi Walter,

Photography is open to all levels and abilities, but you are correct that the very latest equipment and software costs a lot of money. Having a lot of money doesn't make you a pro, even if it does allow you to buy pro equipment. Money can't buy you a good image; that is a skill set you can learn with experience with relatively cheap equipment and software. In fact there is excellent software out there that is free to download and use, and the principles for using most software packages are the same.

Second hand equipment can be found on the highstreet and there is an abundance of bargains to be had on the internet. Photoplus is not geared at the pro market. Look at most of the "how to" articles that the staff write and you will find that they generally use a camera body that could be three or four years old and affordable software such as Elements.

Lastly, market forces determine the success of a product and Photoplus isn't any different. If a particular demographic is heading up the majority of sales, then that speaks for itself.

Wink

Done correctly a overhaul could benefit the magazine, done like Digital SLR user and I would un-subscribe this magazine and another I previously subscribed to became ''club'' orientated concentrating on Camera Club issues.
What we should see more of is thinks on a budget, some of us cannot afford new lenses, cameras etc and nust make do with what we have or save up for that special item!
for example in this months issue of photo plus you were making calenders costing up to £20 and required internet access, a article using free software would benfit some readers like myself who only have limited internet access, so please think of those who don't have or a limited access to the net but still enjoy th emag>

Possibly you are reading the wrong magazine? Personally it has everything I want and I need to read the Photoshop section again and again before dipping into the CD. There are plenty of tutorial free magazines out there and almost all the techniques are available as video tutorials on Youtube or other sites or indeed as Cd's within the magazines. I only say this as it bothers me to see a suggestion to cut things out merely because someone doesn't use that part. ( Oh, all this is purely IMHO and a big welcome to the forum and keep the posts coming)

Videos

I myself could not afford to buy CS5 so I use Elements 9, so these videos work really well for me, but I am also using DPP so I would certainly like to see a series of videos on this programme.
