Congratulations on your win Andy, got my vote this week (although I have no idea why my filler shot got yours )

Thanks Bods and Jinky for the critiques. Firstly whilst I appreciate that many cat owners claim extraordinary powers for their moggies, I can assure you that Milo was so far at the back of the queue when they were handing out brains that I'm not convinced he even knows where he is most of the time. And I didn't realise cropping was allowed - maybe I'll read the rules next time

Below: Cutter – A Woman Scorned. I really like this one. I can't find a thing to fault it. Except maybe a slightly tighter crop at the bottom. Excellent concept and execution. The lighting is perfect as is the pose and the positioning of the blinds. Would have got my vote if Andy hadn't done cute so perfectly softly, but it was a very close run thing.

Above: Bodsao – No! - I feel that this is a snatched shot like mine So I won't say any more, other than 'ooh, so it's you that watches the X Factor'; well you and Harry Hill so he can take the micky out of it on TV Burp.

Ogga – really really like yours too. Superb. I happen to be of the view that whilst it is nice to have, perfect focusing is not the be all and end all of a good photograph. Just as well considering the IQ of most of the lenses I've got

With the difficulty in choosing one from my top 5, I ended up asking the basic question of which one best suits the traditional sense or association with the word portrait, defined as 'a pleasing complementary shot' ? And while I could imagine little Jinky being very pleased with Paul's capture, the 'Cool cat' just snipped it.

Great win Andy, it was a super photo and was soooo very close to getting my vote.

Thanks to jinky and bodsao for the feedback. It's good to know that my technique is acceptable just the subject matter. Unfortunately, I have no willing models around here so just have to make do with whatever I can find to get an entry in.

Above and below.

Above - mucky boy, midnight snacker - great idea well executed. I think that it may have been a little more effective if you had been reaching with your other hand and your body was open towards the camera.

Below - bodsao, no - No points either eh, I'm glad I wasn't the only one. Good spur of the moment shot but I felt that maybe there was a little too much light in it for the brief.

Finally, Mark, loved your shot but when you get no points as often as I do, you get used to it and ther's no point in spitting the dummy.

Steve.
