You look like the type of character that would be having surreptitious meetings in exotic locations

I like the low key portraits black and white, although I think the whites of the eyes look a little dark. I don't like the treatment of the others so much, it looks a bit odd.

I like number 1 and 2. Don't mind the toning actually as it adds something for me. I think number 3 looks like you are being interviewed by someone so I like that look, as if you are not aware of the camera.

Very cool! There are some where there is a bit too much below the chin, leaving your face a little high in the frame, but I think you've done a good job.... maybe a little cropping here and there, and just a tad brighter.

Nice work !

I like 1 & 3, 2 seems too dark though.

The grid is a cool idea but I've noticed your mouth is the same in every shot... Some of the grid images are great and others I like less. This is because, some of the hats don't seem to fit the expression/theme of the shot, in own opinion. Middle left the hat just doesn't seem to suit, the shot and look are one of my favorites though, just the hat spoils it.

The pure B & W shots in the corners of the grid, the 'flat cap' works but the one lower left doesn't seem to fit so well, maybe it's the Sepia toning throwing it off when you're wearing the other hat ?

I think I'd have to agree with Geoff too with some of them being a touch dark. I know you're trying to get tight in on the face but perhaps some more detail of the hat would actually be good ?

All that said though, good effort ! You've got some great shots out of it.

Thanks Karen Not being a model and this is my first real attempt at self portraits (I think last ones was nearly 30 years ago on film!) I wanted to achieve a moody look (not that I am a moody person!) and then convert to B & W and try some toning will keep working on the facial expression though and the eyes!
Set is very difficult ref focus on eyes any tips? Thanks Peter

Thank you I was not sure which hat suits as I am not a hat person! very rarely do I wear a hat, the straw one I only wear when I go to watch cricket at Lords or the Oval. The other two only come out in the winter when out and about working. I think the straw hat is the best fit but wanted to see what others thought so thanks you feedback much appreciated Peter
