I think the moral of this yarn is never touch anything from PC World with a barge pole. They, like Curry's, are no more than a bunch of box shifters. My advice to anyone is find through word of mouth a small guy who will build you a custom computer to your needs and go with it. Most of the parts carry at least 1 year manufacturers warranty anyway.

OldBoy could be right and your unit is overheating. It's important to get cooling right and to give your case enough breathing space around it, especially at the back.

It very well could be heat. The intergrated graphics chips do get hot and usually don't have the greatest of heatsinks to help them stay cool. This might explain why the pc worked without a problem for a short period, while the side of the case was off, as the air flow is greatly increased.

I also agree with Keith about avoiding big companies like PCworld when buying a computer. Finding a small systems builder with a good reputation is a much better option in the future.

Thanks everyone, learnt lots.
Contacted Mesh support this morning (India I believe). They are sending me out a label to return the computer and it could take three weeks following that for work to be done on it.
Does anyone know the best place to use for returning such items with and any telephone numbers would be handy please. I am in the south east UK, Essex.
Thanks again.

If it is going to be returned in the UK there are several courier services. Parcel Force might be one place to start:
http://www.parcelforce.com/portal/pw...diaId=25800695

TNT might be another: http://www.tnt.com/express/en_gb/site/home.html

Parcels 2 go another: http://www.parcel2go.com/

I have never had cause to use them myself as I always use Royal Mail, but I'm not sure they are geared up to do computers. Just make sure you ask if insurance is included in the delivery price for the amount you state.

Good luck

Suggest you wait for the labe,l as they might have a preferred courier and they should cover all costs involved.

Just to let everyone know who was so helpful to me. I took my computer to Mesh on Monday, received a phone call that it was ready on Tuesday. Picked it up today, Thursday. It had to have its motherboard replaced.
Fingers crossed now.......
