Confused about shortlisting

From what I've gathered,

If you've got a hi-res request, it doesn't mean your photo will be shortlisted.
Yet if you haven't got a hi-res request, it doesn't mean you won't t be shortlisted.

So basically at this stage anyone can still be shortlisted i believe, and they should start announcing them today.

Hi Richard,

Basically what Kelseyaustin said, all of the shortlists will be revealed over the next 5 days.

Once you've seen the shortlist for any category/ies you have entered into, if you're not on that list then you're no longer in the competition, but if you are, congratulations you're through to the next round!

Hi Amy,

Have noted that there are 20 photos shortlisted in each category presently. Would the number of images go up or over the next five days? Any idea how often the updates would be made?

I thought all shortlists were to be announced on the 8th of October.

Hi everyone,

2 shortlists will be announced every day over the next 5 days, starting with Landscapes today at lunchtime, and another coming shortly.

ifotoman, there are different amounts in each category, most have more than 20. This will be the final shortlist and it won't go up or down.

The commended and highly commended entries will be announced in November, followed by the winners in December.

P.P.S. The official judges shortlists are not to be confused with the "your choice" galleries that have been uploaded in the past few days, these were reflective of readers most commented, viewed and rated images and may or may not contain images from the official shortlist!

Apologies, I should have said "2 a day for the next 5 days".
