Wow, the exciting stuff from Photokina is already starting to trickle through...

Check out this retro-look digital compact from Fujifilm that comes complete with an APS-C sized CMOS sensor tucked away in its little body! Also equipped with a fixed-length lens, revolutionary hybrid viewfinder and a newly developed processor.

Oooh looks nice - shame about the price tag - estimated at u$1400, so that'll be well over £1000. Roughly twice as much as I'd pay for it. Pity.

I like the idea of walking around with it - looking like you've had it for years - gives a certain 'cred' that most modern p&s cameras don't have. It took a while to discover (from the Fuji website) that it's 12.3Mp, so, with good electronics, that's not going to be too crowded on an APS-C. Way too expensive, though.

I'll be fascinated to see how many of these they sell. Personally, I'm a big fan of rangefinders, but I wouldn't trade in my Yashica Electro GSN and Ilford Delta for one...
