Some Interesting news?

Olympus could be about to replace the E-3 dSLR!

I have just come into possession of a photo of a what looks like it could be Olympus's new DSLR –Â*the E-5! Not very imaginative on their parts, naming wise, but still exciting for all us Fourthirds fans out there. There are no details on the resolution yet but I would expect it to feature a similar sensor to those used on the excellent Pen. Is there a way to post a picture on here I have a picture but I can't find the bbutton to upload it.

what do the other Olympus users out there think?

Hi Gstitt,

The E-5 rumour has been doing the rounds for a while now, but as of yet there's no definitive news.

You can check out a list of rumours for 2010 we put together in January and updated in May here:

(E-5 is number 8...)

Thanks,

Amy

I read that with interets, Amy.

The interesting thing, judging from the pic I was sent (i will not reveal who sent it, but the link is below) was that the shape is very similar to the E-3, so the mirror less design quoted by the Olympus team may have been put back in favour of a proper pentoprism?

there also what looks like a new 8-60mm lens on the front.

The 8-60mm would be a decent update to the already excellent 12-60mm.

In fairness, with Photokina coming up there are no shortage of rumours flying round at the moment. DxO posted their upcoming releases yesterday clearly showing the Canon EOS 60D (since removed from the page). There is also the Canon EVIL system.
There are rumours of 4 new Sony cameras (a33, a55, a560 and a580), Nikons EVIL camera, a new Nikkor 85mm f/1.2 and the replacement for the Nikon D90.

Did you see that a senior bod at Canon Japan more or less confirmed the EVIL/hybrid idea?

But he seems to be suggesting that although it will be small, it will retain the mirror:
