I doubt it. Sony have always said they won't put HD video on their cameras until they can implement it seamlessly. This should be easier for Sony as they have the secondary liveview sensor which could be upgraded and used for video capture without all that mirror flapping.

So they've held back on the video modes until they get them right. And then they introduce (or may introduce) a lower spec scanning mode. Weird.

High ISO performance sounds good, they're certainly going to give Canon and Nikon some good competition in the future.

Well we missed one thing, it's 4 cameras, 2 SLR and 2 "SLT" (along with the barrage of new lenses again).

Nice to see the pellicle mirror back in a camera and, by the looks of it, quite well implemented. DPReview already has one of their full in depth reviews on the SLT a55 (link)

Be interesting to see how this goes down. 10fps as a headline is pretty good for Sony although I think you can only use this in certain modes and file formats and then once you've filled your buffer it will take 50 secs to clear which is a long time if you are shooting something that needs 10fps.

On a personal note, I have used an EVF (although not as good as this one!) and did not get on well with it so I will need to be persuaded that this is a good way. Also it seems very small and I think it could be quite cumbersome for those of us with larger hands! The noise handling seems a lot better which leaves me hopeful for future cameras if I ever change my body.

The question from me is where is this camera aimed at? Is the A33 another Entry level camera and the A55 Mid range? Is so are the looking for new Sony recruits or people who are going to change bodies? Am I the only one confused as to the amount of cameras sony has in this area, A280/290, A380/390, A400, A450, A560, A580, A33 and A55 ( I may have made up some cameras )

The trouble is Sony have sold their sole to Nikon which restricts them from making any camera that competes with the d3.
Sony range is a set of small inflatable craft with no flag ship, a set of small town cars with no sports car.
Until they can make a press camera that can hold it's own and everyone gets to see Sony digital cameras in the hands of the Pro's on Tv, Sony will only ever remain a cheap option to owning one of the big hitters, a first camera you buy because it's cheap until you find out if you like photography, then you will want what the Pro's use..

Sony are already masters in the video camera market. I don't see why they can't be more dominant in the camera market. I don't think of Sony as a cheap option of owning a good camera. A very small amount of the press may already use Sony DSLR cameras. I remember Sony once saying some portrait photographers find there cameras have more detail than competitors.
