Graphics card upgrade problem.

Well the new card was installed today, but it has left me with a problem. It isn't recognising that my monitor is wide screen and thus everything is a bit stretched. I have tried changing resolution, but this hasn't worked. I am now at my wits end to know what to do next. Any suggestions would be grateful.

Nothing wrong with your graphic card you just need to reset your display. Click Start, Control Panel, and select display or Personalization and select Display Settings. Click on Advance settings. There should be a Tab for your card type, select this and click on the button that displays your card name. You can either click on the Identify Monitor button or click on you card name button. Either accept the Easy Setup Wizard and click the go tab or select the quick settings tab and select Display Setup and click on the go button. Select the resolution that reflects your desktop area and click finish. You may need to reboot your computer for the changes to take effect.

Thanks OldBoy. When I looked in device manager I couldn't find my card, so I ran the driver disc once again (obviously driver problems). This time the driver loaded properly and all is well now. It has detected my 1680x1050 @60 hz screen resolution and looks terrific.

Ah that explains it. I didn't suggest driver problems as I assumed it was installed OK. Sometimes when installing a new monitor or card, the display is reset to it's default and I assumed this is what was causing your problem. Glad it's sorted now.
