Any thoughts on how to open a jpeg in ACR using Elements6? As I said I know I have done it before but seem unable to now. I think I'm having an extended senior moment!!!!!!

File > Open As > Select Raw file instead of jpeg from the drop down menu, then select your jpeg file and it will open in camera raw.

A bit crude, but I sometimes go into Selective Colour and drop the yellow in the Neutrals slider. It does the job sometimes.

Thanks for the suggestion Treehugga, is this something I can do in PSE6? I looked but could not find Selective colour. Could it be you are using full PhotoShop or CS3 etc?

Yes that's with PS CS3, perhaps it doesn't have that feature in Elements

You can also remove a colour cast in Elements using the rgb channels in levels or a hue and sat adjustment layer targeting the colour cast or variations.

Post the image and I'll tell you the best way to do it in Elements.

If you have managed it in the Raw editor then fine.

But if you wish to try other ways to gain experiance, here's a couple more.

1-Open the levels adjustment layer, select the blue channel from the drop down menu and slowly move the middle slider to the left, this is adative colour correcting, adding the opposite colour to the cast.

2- Or this way. Open the hue and sat adjustment layer, select yellow from the drop down menu, then use the eydropper to further target the yellow colour cast by clicking on the statue say. then moce the hue slider to correct.

Paul, Although I thought I'd cracked it in ACR I tried both your suggested methods and liked the results. I have to admit I'd never tried either before so learnt a lot. I particularly liked the results from method 2. Whilst the results are infinitely variable ,I guess,in both methods I found I had richer colours and less of a cool effect with the second. Much appreciated!
