LED backlit PC screen/monitor

Hi
My husband wants to upgrade our PC monitors to the new LED backlit style. I note a fair few laptop screens also going over to this technology.
Has anyone tried one? I have heard that they can be awkward for photo work, making images unknowingly over bright and punchy. Thye look great on your screen until ypu get prints, or upload and someone else sees them on a normal screen?
Any views?
I use Photoshop and have a Canon 7D.
Thanks
Lyn

I've never tried one, but I would imagine that if you calibrate them then the problems you've described will go away.
