Smile Update on the lens dilema !

Chris , 'Old Boy et al - Thanks once again for all your advice.
Having pondered , paced and read up I made a decision and have just taken delivery of the Canon EF 300mm f/4L IS USM and will hopefully have some worthwhile shots to post using this and my other lenses and a fair bit of practise !
Wish me luck !!

Hi donoreo (et al) - Sorry but have been unable to find time to go on line just of late.

I am always a bit hesitant to post any of my pictures as what I feel is a pleasing and passable effort on my part soon pales into insignificance when compared to the majority of other peoples shots.
I don't know why I should feel this way as I am well aware I am a novice to this most enjoyable hobby ( or profession to some lucky people ) and if I am prepared to ask you guys for advice then should also be prepared in return to provide examples of my attempts at getting a good picture.
You will see some shots with the new lens in my gallery and as always I would appreciate any and all critisism.
The shots in question are taken of birds in my garden so not that adventurous I'm afraid as I am still trying to find my way around 'f' stops and ISO etc and often find at the crucial moment when something turns up I need to shoot in a hurry that I have got one of the settings wrong !
Anyways, have a look if you feel inclined to and let me know.
Cheers for now.
John

Hi Markulous,
Very nice Spotted Flycatcher sir 'doing exactly what it says on the tin' !
What sort of distance was he/she and settings please ?
I'm just about to download and check out some shots I took yesterday so may have an example or two of my own I hope.
