Cool Fitting Lenses

Not much experience in lenses yet and i can't find any good answers when searching then net itself. So hopefully some of you can give me this easy question an answer.

Do any lenses fit on any dslr camera? specifically my Canon 450D or do i have to get a lens just made for Canon. Because there are some interesting scabby old lenses in a local charity shop and i don't think they are a make that are particularly popular.

Hello Whysoserious992 and welcome to the forum.

In answer to your question, there are a number of different lens mounts used by the leading manufacturers. You will need to look for lenses with a Canon fit mount for your 450D.

You will see when you search through the websites selling camera lenses that they have split into categories, usually, Canon Fit, Nikon Fit, Four Thirds, Micro Four Thirds, Sony/Minolta fit, Sigma Fit and Pentax Fit. These are the most popular lens mounts and most are manufacturer specific.

Its also worth having a look at a company called SRB Giturn (I think that's how they spell it) as they make adapters to allow some manufacturers lenses to be used on other cameras.
