Nikon fit canon ?

I have a friend who may be selling some Nikon lenses, will they fit my canon 50D ?

No. You may be able to get an adapter, but there will be no autofocus and probably no metering.

So that, in fact, means... Yes.

You can definitely get adaptors. SRB Griturn sell adaptors which allow you to mount Canon FD, Contax, Nikon, Olympus OM, Leica R, M42 and Pentax K mount lenses onto EOS bodies. Link here. It'll cost you £23.

Chris is right, you won't get any AF (you may get focus confirmation but it really depends on the lens/adaptor/camera combo) but the meter may still work in manual mode (again this is camera specific).

TBH it depends on which lenses and how much for!

Also remember that there won't be auto stop-down, so you need to set the aperture manually. That rules out Nikon G-type lenses which have no aperture ring, unless you buy the £150 Novoflex adapter.
