Lens hood for my 55-250mm. Screw or bayonet?
I have a 55-250mm tele zoom to compliment my Canon kit 18-55mm. I also have two lens hoods, both are screw thread fitting, one being a rose petal type and the other a standard circular rubber. I find that when I focus, the lens hood rotates with the lens thus possibly not giving me optimum protection against flare particularly with the rose petal one. I understand that on a wide angle lens you need to ensure the petal lens hood is in the right position i.e. to eliminate the corners, but does it matter so much on a 250mm zoom, and is there any benefit using a bayonet fitting rather than screw? I look at the pros and they all have petal shaped hoods and I have seen lens hoods for sale that apparently are designed for this tele zoom lens. Am I becoming paranoiac about this and does it really matter that much?
Edit:
Have now purchased the Canon ET-60 dedicated lens hood for my 250mm as I decided the rose petal is best for my kit lens 18-55 only.
