Thumbnails difficult to see.

I'm very happy THE competition is under way again.
I had a look at some of the entries, but I find it very difficult to see the photographs properly as the thumbnails are very small.

I am partially sighted, but manage reasonably well. With the previous competitions, I had to enlarge some of the pictures to 'get' them, and of course always enlarged the ones I wanted to have a closer look at, but this time I have to enlarge all of them to see them properly. Very laborious and time consuming; I won't be able to see even a tenth of them!

I've always taken a close interest, and had a good look at many, many entries in the past, but this time I am literally lost!

Is there any possibility to change this?

Thanks for the clarification guys. Much appreciated.

Reinardia... I agree that the thumbnails are extra small... and there is not much wrong with my eyes(that can't be corrected!!)... I tried enlarging it in the browser but the photos are made extra small and deteriorate when enlarged.

I wonder if there is a way of making the original thumbnails a bit larger, but scaling them down for other people's browsers.?

Thumbs down Size DOES matter.

So glad it isn't just me!
I tried to reduce the number of thumbnails coming up in the (naive, I know) hope that they would be a bit larger, but that doesn't work.

I'm okay if there is only one largish subject in a photograph, like a prortrait, but if there is a lot to see, I simply do'nt see it.

Hi there,

The FAQ guidelines say that we can upload images upto 5 mb meaning rather large dimensions for each photo, but I am worried that your site offers totally no security against photo theft.

I am amazed that anyone can right click their mouse button on the image, even if not registered, and save the full size picture to their PC.

Why is this 'right click' function not disabled?

Hi Kimy

For good display on the Internet image file sizes do not have to be so large, and as you will glean from earlier posts it is acceptable to watermark and signature the images you upload.

Apparently the disabled 'right click' function exercise is not a totally secure method for protection, and I guess partly the reason for any reluctance; keeping the onus upon the artist, to do their best in detering theft and looking after their interest.

The images I upload are usually watermarked / copyright 'C'd and devoid of some Exif data; which can be provided in way of proof to the image origin should the need arise.

Having said this, I agree the disable right click would assist towards further protection, and it would be nice to hear from admin on this matter.

Just wondering when exactly the judges start looking at entries and requesting hi-res images. I never entered till late last year so don't know if the judging is towards the end or if it takes place throughout the whole 140 days.

Question Voting Mystery.

You can vote by clicking on the thumbs up icon underneath any given picture. The most popular pictures can be seen by going to each category page and clicking "sort by Highest Rated" where the images with most votes will be displayed first

How can you tell how many votes a picture has gathered? I found the thumbs up sign and have used it for a few entries, but when I look at the pictures to see if anyone shares my opinion and added a vote, I do not see any votes at all. What am I missing?

Ditto. How do you determine how many votes a picture has, even your own?

judging the photos with the most votes is flawed. Some peeps will just get others to vote for them or make multiple accounts. How many great shots go unseen just because they havent had any votes??
