Feedback ?

Hi, i have asked this before ( and i suspect it was deleted ) but here goes again.. Why is it so hard to have some feedback on posted photos on this site, i thought the whole point of this site was the promotion of better digital photography, how can we as beginners know what we are doing right or wrong when there is absolutely no feedback at all, i think all you pro`s out there forget that you were all beginners once.

I don`t think there are many pros that look in on this site to be honest. I used to comment more in DC Mag days but find the whole gallery set up / system operation just too problematic to bother giving or expecting feedback and use other places for that. I only use my gallery here to house weekend comp entries and will continue with that unless systems change.
Why don`t you try soing entries into the weekend comp and get comment / encouragement that way - it works for many.

Have to agree 100% with Paul, I can't be bothered otherwise with the galleries. Comments were never important to me but liked to know how many people viewed my pictures, just does not happen here.

Jim.

If you think about it, who is sufficiently qualified here to comment with any authority on your photographs? Reading the threads on the forum, it would seem that the vast majority of photographers here are either beginners or fairly recent newcomers to photography, and they are well catered for with advice and help, technically and equipmentwise and the techniques videos etc that are issued by the Admin staff. You can even learn how to put up your tripod!

So are there sufficient numbers who feel qualified and/or have the time to undertake constructive comments, or otherwise on the pictures posted here? There maybe a few 'pros' visiting the site, but not many. I would hope that they would be so busy earning a living that they wouldn't have time to spend commenting, unless they were paid for it.

That begs the question why don't those running the site make the effort to provide a 'Commenting Service'?
I suppose they do when they pick POTD, but that's just one a day, and the comments are why they liked it, not necessarily how it could be improved. And if thruth be known some of those comments make you wonder if the commentator has much photographic nous.

So if you want good constructive, helpful and experienced criticism/comment on your work, as has been said many times on the forum, join a club!

The whole gallery format is just....well, bad. It does not promote casual browsing. I never bother with the galleries anymore. I have not looking in there for months. Not once in 2010 for sure.

Future is aware of the issues people have with the galleries, but they have not done anything about it yet. I am guessing there is no budget since the whole site was created just last year.
