Big thank you to all that voted for me: GUY1970, Mannananscloak, matt wilson, ronbpix, and terrik.
All i can say is you have taste.
Thanks forseti for the critique as usual you are right again, i used a flash to the left. I would be interested to know how to light the orange to be able to bring out the texture.but i guess i wont!

Some great shots this week and thank you to all for the votes and positive encouragement. (It's been a bit of a heady roller coaster on many fronts this week, and winning has lifted the spirits following earlier sadness – the mystery of angels - and discovering today that one of our dogs has a rather large tumour)

Above, Snowlock's Leaf ; excellent work, great colour and nice DOF.
Below, Carol's Ipek; A superbly sharp and nicely lit portrait that deserves praise. A crop to fill the frame would have gained my vote. I love the language of the pose and the clarity of details, although the square catchlight seems a little hard for such a beautiful gentle female face. Having said that, (IMO) as a before PP shot it is top notch work.

New challenge on its way

cheers for the comments everyone,

as its been a while i have missed the way i should be making comment on the images so if i have the wrong end of the stick i apologise! (i'm guessing i have to comment on the one above and below mine in the list... sorry if i'm being thick :-)0

above - Cutter - sunburst - great image, the bubbles circling the outside line are cool. the contrast of the orange and the blue works.

below - Beauxreflets - A bashful pony - well this was an easy one to comment on too! great image, i have to say i enjoy shooting horses, but i think you beat any of my efforts with yours!

hopefully i get get sorted and get an entry in for this weekends!

(this was my last horse shot)

Very well done Andy. Glad your win has taken the edge off your bad news.

Blimey, I got a few votes. Thank you brave souls My up n' down.

ianpinion - I really like this. Simple, clean lines and nice, subtle changes of texture make for an interesting abstract. Something different, which is always a bonus in my book. I think the composition is spot on to genuinely fill a 3x2 aspect frame, which I took to pretty much be the challenge this week. All I would say is that I may have presented the image in a portrait aspect (probably rotated 90 deg cw) but then I tend to prefer portrait shots.

Mannananscloak - Well exposed with a good array of colours and textures. The lack of any real focal point I think shows the difference between filling a frame with things & filling the frame with a composition. For example, GUY1970's snail shell shows how picking out a part of a scene can make for a stronger image.
